Wheel Loader

This program teaches participants the basics of Wheel Loader Operations. The program is divided into a Theory portion and a Practical evaluation.

Theory Portion:

  • Responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Construction/Industrial Regulations as they relate to Operating a WHEEL LOADER
  • WHEEL LOADER components
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Hazards associated with the use of a WHEEL LOADER
  • How weight distribution affects WHEEL LOADER steering and stability
  • Difference between Tipping Load and Rated Operator Capacity
  • Understanding Hydrostatic Transmissions
  • WHEEL LOADER features and their importance
  • Safe entry and exit
  • Fundamentals of efficient manoeuvring, traveling and working with the Wheel Loader
  • Proper Loading & Unloading Techniques
  • Stability
  • Pre-start inspection
  • Written Test

Practical Portion:

  • Understand the controls
  • Understand the gauges
  • Perform a Pre-shift inspection
  • Safe Entry and exit
  • Learn & demonstrate the basic driving techniques
  • Learn & demonstrate the basic loading and unloading techniques

Each participant will spend up to 45 minutes in the machine. Maximum 8 people in the class.
