To teach personnel about the hazards and regulations associated with activities in line clearing or tree removal when working in proximity to energized electrical equipment under the direct supervision of a journey-person.
Participants will learn:
- An understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the relevant Regulations and as it pertains to this activity
- The Municipalities/Utilities policies as it relates to this activity
- E&USA Safe Practice Guide “Line Clearing Operations”
- Basic electrical
- Basic hydraulics
- Aerial device and holding valve checks
- Ropes and rigging
- Personal protective equipment
- Safe limits of approach
- Utility plant identification theory – how to identify different types of line voltage
- Proper care and Maintenance of Equipment
- Hazards associates with weather conditions
Note – practical training is not associated with this program.
A written test will be conducted at the end of the theory portion.
